In response to a subscriber question, today’s post is a paid-only edition I wrote about the challenge investors face with inflation. These paid posts finance Still Press and I encourage you to subscribe. For those of you that already subscribe, a very heartfelt thank you.
Wednesday we publish our next podcast, a conversation with Dan Zwirn. These podcasts began as an experiment. After publishing Raising a Thief, I was asked what my daughter thought about the story. So I asked her myself and posted that conversation as the first podcast. The book is about getting knocked out of the familiar and what I learned as a father and husband. Speaking to readers, I realized a lot of people get knocked out of the familiar and in the process learn important truths. So I decided to record their stories and the lessons learned.
Getting knocked out of the familiar takes many different forms. While some guests lost children (Ray Dalio), endured the Cultural Revolution (Gao Xiqing) or faced Covid (Dr. Alexander Vanyukov), others dropped 3-pointers in the NBA (Pat Garrity) or wrote iconic speeches for Obama (Adam Frankel). Dan’s story is of a financial savant who went from boom to bust to redemption. Listen the podcast to find out what exactly that means. While the podcast is recorded in Connecticut, it is downloaded all over the world and we offer a big shout out to listeners from Hanoi, to Kiev to Cedar Falls and everywhere else.
