Sunday Coffee Thoughts
I try to remind myself of what persists and what dissipates.
Much of what I’ve worried about dissipates, steam in the air—passing a test, catching the plane, navigating awful bureaucracies.
The same is true in many (not all) international conflicts; yesterday’s implacable foes—the UK and US—are today friends.
Like an ancient, weathered stone pillar, the big things persist—how to treat one another, what to expect of ourselves, the indestructible concern of a parent for their child.
Moms are the axis on which this spins, always and forever, again and again, which is why today is such a special day.
